The holidays are the season for travel and I'm always in need of tips to make it easier and faster. I'm guilty of procrastinating when it comes to packing- which always leads to last minute scrambling and no time for primping. We all know that days no make up and undone hair means it's a hat day!
But a baseball cap is not your only option. There are many stylish, lightweight and packable hats that are perfect for travelling.

How is your holiday shopping coming along? I'm embarassed to admit that the only thing that is progressing is my own "wishlist." It's quite long- so I won't bore you with the details...but topping the list are a gorgeous pair of suede and leather oxford pumps. I love the menswear trend that I've been seeing everywhere this season!As I've mentioned- a great way to indulge in a trend is through accessories. It's much easier to incorporate a pair of oxford shoes, or a fedora into your wardrobe, than it is to wear a tuxedo jacket! There's only one more day of July left! Where did the time go! I'm so glad we are finally enjoying some Summer-like weekend weather...last weekend was nice and sunny, and this upcoming one is no different. If I tackle the to-do list for the next couple days...my only commitment on Saturday will be to the pool and a good book. 've noticed that most women wear baseball caps to the pool, while I understand the appeal- they're casual and comfortable....they just don't provide enough shade or protection. Plus, did you really spend all that agonizing time in the fitting room, trying to find the perfect swim suit...just to top it off with an old baseball cap? The holiday's are quick approaching. Thanksgiving is already this week! If you're hosting dinner, I'm sure you're keeping busy. But more than a perfect turkey and candied yams, this time of year has always been about togetherness and family The togetherness part unfortunately usually involves some travel. Whether you're navigating the security lines at the airport, or enjoying a mini road trip with the kids to Aunt Sandy's...Here are a few products that may make traveling a bit more cheery this holiday season.
Ficcare Maximas are the ultimate hair accessory, and they come in so handy during travel. The unique curve, and strong hold allow for a all-day comfort. By now we're smart enough to check the weather of our destination. But even still, I've stepped off the plane (expecting sun and clear skies) to be greeted with some spawn of El Nino. This is when it helps to have a packable all-weather hat.

My favorite feature however is a sleeve in back that can be slipped over your suitcase handle, so you can set the bag on top of your luggage without it falling off as you manuever the crowds at the airport.
And now for the inside! One side of the bag has a completely vinyl lined pocket to hold your cosmetics, or anything else you want to keep separated. There are elastic bands to hold your water bottle, or cosmetics, or even that bottle aspirin :) There's one more zippered pocket, a cell phone pouch, and a detachable pouch. All inside a framed zipper opening for easy visibility of the inside. Oh, and did I mention that the whole bag is lightweight and water-resistant? Who knows, the Baggallini Large Doctors Bagg might just make you look forward to traveling during the holidays.

My Solution to New England Weather
The other day, we had 80 degree weather- in the middle of October in Boston! Today, it's just dreary out. Yes, you knew it was coming- I'm a New Englander complaining about the weather! But what's a girl to do? It's not like I don't have enough trouble trying to find something to wear in the mornings...the weather isn't making it any easier. The gorgeous gray wool coat I bought in September has barely seen the light of day, and I refuse to reach back into my Spring wardrobe!
One item that transitions easily from Spring to Fall and back again is the Helen Kaminski Effie.
The Effie has a small all around brim, and squared crown, it is a casual, easy to wear, everyday hat. A toggle elastic band adjusts the crown for a secure fit. Lightweight and waterproofed cotton will stand up to anything Mother Nature decides to surprise me with. Today, it's acting as a rain hat (and covering up the awful frizzy mess I have under it). On other days, it provides protection from the sun.
The Effie is also packable and crushable, so this is a great hat to throw in your bag just in case, especially if you're a commuter or do a lot of walking.
